Book Beginnings On Fridays and The Friday 56

Meow everyone!! 😸 I hope you all are doing fine! πŸ₯Ί

I am officially back after a long time and I cannot express how happy I am to be back! Before I start this post I want to quickly say that my exam went well and I happen to get good grade in all of my exams 😍😌.

So, now that the first semester of the academic year has been wrapped up, I will be immediately having my final semester exams in June 😣, which despite being a long time away, I have started prepping for it. So hopefully I would still be able to post weekly on the blog during June. Also, I’ll still be on at least one post-per-week schedule from now on. Anyway, that’s all, now let’s get started with today’s post!

Welcome back to everyone again to another combination meme post of two memes – β€œBook Beginning on Friday”, and β€œThe Friday 56”, where I share with all the first few sentences and an excerpt of a book that I am currently reading!

Today I am sharing the first few paragraphs and a short excerpt for The Friday 56 of the book Like Cats and Dogs by Kate McMurray, which I was fortunate enough to receive an eARC of! But first, take a look at the cute book cover and the synopsis β€”

About the Book

Synopsis

Can you fight like cats and dogs, and still be perfect for each other?

Things are getting ruff in this Brooklyn neighborhood when new veterinarian Caleb Fitch moves in next door to the Whitman Street Cat Cafe and gets on the wrong side of cafe owner Lauren Harlow. Lauren has a few things to teach the new vet on the block, and rescuing kittens is only the start…

Lauren can’t ignore the fact that she is instantly attracted to Caleb, but he gets her even more riled up when he argues with her about how best to treat the cats in her care. Determined to smooth things over, Caleb comes to the rescue when a new litter of abandoned kittens is left on Lauren’s doorstep, and they confront the fiery attraction that’s been building between them from the start. But saving the baby kittens is only the first challenge Lauren and Caleb have to face, and when a real estate developer comes sniffing around their block, they’ll have to work together, or risk losing everything…

Let’s start with Book Beginning on Friday!

Book Beginning On Friday

Book Beginnings On Friday is hosted by rose city reader, and it prompts us to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with the initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.

The first few paragraphs or lines of the book I am currently reading is β€”

Sadie the office manager yowled.

β€œI hear ya,” Lauren said absently as she leaned against the counter and looked at her phone. There was an unusually long line of people waiting for their morning coffee. Lauren was a bit of a spy in her own kingdom as she waited for her own coffee, letting customers go ahead of her as she kept an eye on her staff.

My Impression:

Okay, the first few paragraphs of this book are adorable! Sadie is actually an adorable little cat here 🐈 ! Reading the book beginning, I knew the cat content in this book will definitely melt my heart and it’s been happening so! 😍😍😍😍😍 So far this book has been an okay read for me but I am hoping to continue this book and enjoy the cat content as much as I can πŸ₯ΊπŸ˜.

The Friday 56

The Friday 56 is a weekly meme hosted by Freda at Freda’s Voice. This meme prompts us to grab a book, any book, and turn to page 56 or 56% in your e-reader and share a short excerpt. Here’s an excerpt from Like Cats and Dogs by Kate McMurray.

The poor dog was nearly apoplectic with excitement to be meeting a new person. Lauren knelt on the floor and scratched his ears. β€œHi, buddy. I’m very happy to meet you, too.” He licked her face in response, which tickled enough to make her laugh.

Thankfully, I am more than halfway done with this book so I can post this excerpt. Since we are talking about cat content, I thought I’d include a little dog 🐢 content that’s also present in this book! Hank is honestly a loveable dog 😍 .

And that’s all! Thank you for reading, and as always, until my next post, take care!πŸ’–

  1. Congrats on your academic success, and good luck in June! Good to see you back. And, just for the record, I’m definitely a dog person.
